Volunteer For Us

Saving Strays Animal Rescue relies on the generosity of volunteers who give up their time to assist with the daily running of the charity. We are always in need of volunteers for a large variety of differing roles covering a wide range of skills and interests. If you feel you could spare a few hours to help in any of the vacancies listed, please complete the application form and a member of the team will contact you.

Home Checkers

We are looking for attentive, motivated individuals to become home checkers for Saving Strays Animal Rescue. This would include:

  • Calling potential adopters over the phone
  • Giving them a short interview
  • Filling out the homecheck form with their answers
  • Assessing the potential adopter based on our requirements and how well they fit them
  • Liaising with the team on what type of animal you think would be suitable for them and their home
  • Contact with the potential adopter throughout the process updating them on their status, which animal they would want/would suit them best and general information they need to know

You will receive full training and assistance for this role and can set your own hours.

Fosterers

We are looking for caring individuals to become fosterers for Saving Strays Animal Rescue. As a fosterer you would:

  • Care for and love our animals
  • Attend vet appointments with our animals
  • Assess our animals basic temperament and personality
  • Get some great photos
  • Regularly travel in Bolton to pick up the supplies you need (food/litter etc.)
  • Advice given on the care of our animal

All food, litter, bedding, toys etc. and veterinary costs are covered by us. We also have a transport team on hand if you are unable to drive to appointments.

Only people living in the Bolton area will be considered.

Writers

We are looking for creative individuals to help share written updates about all the great work being done by Saving Strays Animal Rescue. As a writer you would be responsible for writing content such as:

  • Press Releases
  • News Stories
  • Blogs

Transporters

We are looking for individuals who have access to a vehicle and would be able to assist with the transportation of animals to and from vet appointments when required. This would involve picking up the animal from the fosterer’s house, taking them to the vets (RSPCA Bolton or Vets4Pets Astley Bridge), then taking the animals back to the foster afterwards. Ideally we require individuals who are available during weekdays as vet appointments are Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.

General Admin

We are looking for someone who can assist with the general administrative tasks involved with the running of Saving Strays Animal Rescue. This is a varied role and may include a number of different tasks, most of which will use Google Docs.

Donations Manager

We are looking for someone who can assist in obtaining donations for Saving Strays Animal Rescue. As a donations manager you would be responsible for:

  • Communicating with local shops and businesses to provide cat/dog food, litter, biscuits, toys etc.
  • Communicate with fosterers to drop off supplies and distribute among the team
  • Weekly collection of items from our two donation bins in Bolton
  • General organisation of donations through our Amazon wishlist, Paypal etc.
  • Working with the social media manager, fundraising manager and PR manager

Grants Manager

We are looking for someone who can assist in researching the available grants given to animal charities and then helping to write the grant applications to help raise vital funds to keep Saving Strays Animal Rescue running.

Fundraiser

Do you enjoy planning a wide range of events, big and small? We are looking for someone to assist in organising and planning fundraising events. Fundraising events are vital, not only to help raise well needed cash for the charity, but also to help Saving Strays Animal Rescue reach more of the local community and share information about the important work we do helping local animals.
